William “Bill” V. Sutphen Jr. of Wantage passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Newton Medical Center. He was 66.
Born to William Sr. and Mildred (Schlosser) in Newark, Bill lived in Highland Lakes and Vernon Township before moving to Wantage Township seven years ago.
Bill was an ironworker for 45 years before his retirement in 2019.
He loved to go fishing and kayaking and also enjoyed drawing and painting.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Cindy, six weeks ago; his parents; and a brother Thomas.
He is survived by his devoted grandchildren, Katrina Nielsen and her fiancé Dalton Weller, Eric Montanaro, Paige Radovanovic and her husband Alec, and Johnny Kauffman, and his stepchildren, Candice Kauffman and William Nielsen. He was the beloved brother of Mildred DeGroat, Diana Tintle, Judy Ballard, Georgeanna Hart, Laura Wallace and Russell Sutphen and his wife Gail. Bill is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive their friends at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex, on Thursday, March 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be held on Friday, March 24 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood.
