Winnifred Savage Houser Gill
Winnifred Savage Houser Gill, 91, of Kennett Square, Pa., died suddenly on March 7, 2013 at Bristol Glen in Newton.
Winnie was born on Sept. 14, 1921, in Richmond, Va., the third of six children of the late Aubrey Alphin and Winnifred Savage Houser.
She attended Hollins College in Roanoke and graduated from Westhampton College, now the University of Richmond. She was married for 64 years to Dan R. Gill, who preceded her in death in 2011. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Aubrey Jr., Bill, and Robert and her sister, Ruth.
Winnie is survived by her son, D. Steven Gill, of Princeton; her daughter, M. Susan Weiss and her husband Arthur of Sussex; one brother, John Houser of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Christopher, Chloe, and Kenneth Gill and Kathryn and Sarah Weiss; and a cherished friend, Mike Scott of Lincoln University, Pa.
Winnie was a formidable bridge player, an avid pool shooter, and looked forward to the Friday crossword in the Wall Street Journal.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 21 at the Gill residence, 906 Fairthorne Drive, Kennett Square, Pa.
