Stillwater — Sarah Schostack, a senior at Montclair High School, was recently presented with the Russell Colgate Youth of the Year Award from Fairview Lake YMCA at the Metropolitan YMCA of Oranges 32nd Annual Fellowship Dinner. Presented to outstanding YMCA youth members in honor of the late Russell Colgate, one of the early advocates and supporters of the YMCA, this year’s honoree, Sarah has been part of the Fairview Lake YMCA family since 2002 and spent several years as both a YMCA camper as well as a counselor. Ellie Daingerfield, executive director of the Fairview Lake YMCA, remembers Sarah as the type of camper who displays a very fun-loving, yet mature demeanor. “Sarah is very involved with our YMCA and is always full of camp spirit. She leads her group in songs and cheers and is the first to lend a hand wherever she can,” Daingerfield said. Sarah’s commitment to Fairview Lake YMCA goes well beyond her summers, accumulating 78 volunteer hours at Fairview Lake during the 2008 year, as well as promoting the many programs the YMCA has to offer. In addition to her involvement with the Fairview Lake YMCA, Sarah enjoys playing field hockey and piano and tutors underclassmen in chemistry. In school, she participates in the Theater Club, Model UN and Mock Trial. For more information about Fairview Lake YMCA, located in Stillwater, call 1-800-686-1166 or visit www.fairviewlakeymca.org.
