Troop 82 honors latest Eagle Scout

NEWTON — Patrick Bruscia of Newton was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Court of Honor held on April 19. Patrick is a member of Boy Scout Troop 82, of Sparta, which is chartered by the First Presbyterian Church. An active Scouter, he earned the 100 Nights of Camping Award, and was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Arrow. He has attended the National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., has been a crew member at Sea Base, and has participated in the pinnacle of high adventure scouting at Philmont Scout Reservation in Cimarron, N.M. Patrick’s Eagle project involved renovating the walking trail at Knoll Heights, a senior housing development in Sparta. He erected a kiosk displaying a walking trail map, added directional arrows and mile markers. He also added benches and did landscaping to make the trail easy to use. A senior at Newton High School, he plans to attend college in the fall and study business. Troop 82 is celebrating 51 years of continuous Scouting and service to the community this year. Roger Rowan, of Sparta, is the Scoutmaster of the troop.
