Andover — The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross recently held its annual Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. Award Celebration, at Perona Farms in Andover and the 2009 Quinn Award was given to Freeholder Director Glen Vetrano. According to Executive Director Patricia Day, “The Quinn Award is a special award given in memory of Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. who founded the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1917. The award is presented in recognition of the same spirit of giving to our community that characterized our founder, and in appreciation of exceptional service to her chapter in our own time. Glen Vetrano not only fits, he exceeds the criteria.” Vetrano served as chairman of the inaugural Heroes Campaign for the local Red Cross in March. Under his direction, the grass roots campaign raised public awareness and $60,000, far surpassing the fundraising goal of $35,000. “We could not have asked for a more effective, energetic, or motivated leader,” said Day.
