Wantage — While the frights of Halloween begin to unfold this weekend, laughter fills the auditorium at High Point Regional High School as “The Man Who Came to Dinner” rehearses. Lines are being refined, blocking solidified and comic timing perfected before the cast and crew open on Friday, Oct. 30. “I have always wanted to direct ‘The Man Who Came to Dinner’,” says director Theresa Riccardi. “The excellent writing, comic timing and memorable characters make this show an enjoyable experience for the audience as well as the actors.” The play is a comedy in three acts that centers around radio personality Sheridan Whiteside, who agrees to come to dinner at the home of the Stanleys, a wealthy family with money rooted in factories. But dinner takes a wrong turn when Whiteside slips on a patch of ice outside the Stanleys’ door, breaking his hip and forcing him to recover at their home. Whiteside quickly overtakes the household with his threats and intimidation and begins meddling in the lives of those around him. Senior Matt Ciuffitelli leads the cast as the manipulative and witty Sheridan Whiteside. Other cast members are: Annie Fasino as June Stanley and Austin Haggerty as Sandy. Kelly Osbourne plays Lorraine Sheldon. Kellen Wittrien plays Maggie Cutler. Louis Pieri plays Bert Jefferson. Jim Phillips plays the Dr.Bradley and Zach Stockmal plays Beverly Carlton
