AIDS/HIV awareness program and quilt display slated for SCCC

    SUSSEX COUNTY-Dec. 1 is World AIDS Day and in honor of this occasion, the SCCC Student Activities Department will host a program, "Women and HIV/AIDS." The event will be on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 10:50 a.m. in the school's theater. Kristina Ernst of Hope House along with other panel members will discuss the disease and how its occurrence in women is growing. In addition to the program, the college will have a portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt on display in the theater beginning Nov. 29 through Dec. 7. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is the largest ongoing community arts project in the world. Each of the more than 44,000 colorful panels that make up the quilt memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS. The schedule for the quilt display at SCCC is as follows: Nov. 29 8 to 10:40 a.m. and 12:15 to 6 p.m. Nov.30 8 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. and 1:40 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1 8 to 10:40 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 8 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 8 to 10:40 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 7 8 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. and 3 to 9 p.m. The program and quilt visitation are free.
