Back on Track' aims to help troubled youth
NEWTON Newton resident Guy Gordon, formerly with the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, has started his own business which combines his social work expertise and fitness background to help kids and teens make positive life changes through fitness, guidance and motivation. Called “Back on Track,” the program provides support for troubled and “acting out” teens, kids who have been drugs and/or alcohol involved, developmentally delayed children, kids challenged with obesity, and kids with mental health issues. Back on Track, according to Gordon, helps these kids enhance their self image while assisting them in better decision making. “Back on Track offers unique motivation in which each client is dealt with individually and motivated to overcome whatever adversity through which they may be currently going,” said Gordon, who is a nationally acclaimed marathon runner. Parents seem pleased with the program. “The way my son opened up to (Gordon) was simply remarkable,” said the parent of one of Gordon’s clients, “We have tried so many various supports, and Guy seemed to be the first individual that my son was comfortable with.” Back on Track offers direction in everyday decision making, individualized fitness programs including personalized weekly schedules, self image enhancement, nutritional guidance and when needed, crisis intervention work.
