Bear-proof containers the only way to resolve human-bear conflicts
The answer to human/bear conflicts is not killing bears unnecessarily either by a hunt or by Vernon police recently killing bears lured to the same yard by food and spray painted by the owner to be killed by Fish and Wildlife. The only reason bears leave the forest is because they are lured by garbage not properly stored in bear proof containers. Lack of enforcement by NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife of the Black Bear Feeding Ban which has only issued two summons this year to owners who violate the law luring bears to their property by improperly stored garbage is the second fact causing human/bear conflict. The third fact is that it has been statistically proven with 10 scientific graphs in a report by Rutgers’ Dr. Tavss that killing bears by hunts in other states like NY and PA does not reduce human bear conflicts but instead increases complaints. The only solution to reducing human/bear conflicts is statistically found in Yellowstone, Yosemite and Great Smokey National Parks where bear proof-containers and enforcing ordinances regarding garbage actually reduces complaints.
