Boy Scouts hike through history at Gettysburg

Franklin — The members of Franklin’s Troop 90 recently traveled to historic Gettysburg, Pa. Their encampment was set amongst the tree rows in the battlefields along Confederate Road. The sound of cannon fire by the Maryland Reenactment Militia was not too far away. The scouts spent their time away from camp discovering the shops and museums, as well as taking a 10-mile hike along the trails and fields throughout the battlefields. Marching shoulder to shoulder across the same fields where the battles took place made it all real. A ghost tour in town revealed some interesting photos for the record books. To join Troop 90, call Gary Hintzen at 973-827-3194. The troop meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center at Franklin Pond.
