Braitsch makes Eagle Scout

    VERNON - Eighteen-year-old Eric Braitsch was awarded the Boy Scouts of America's highest award on April 18. After many years of hard work and study the freshman college student at SCCC and member of Boy Scout Troop 404 was awarded his Eagle Scout rank at a Court of Honor ceremony held at the McAfee firehouse in Vernon. Speaking at the ceremony in honor of Eric were, among others, Reverend Steele of St. Thomas Church, Vernon Police Chief Roy Wherry, Jeanette Wherry of the Vernon Fire Department, Scoutmaster Jerry Jicha, and Janice Vaszlavik, Troop 404 Committee Chairperson. For his Eagle Scout service project Braitsch organized and led the painting of the St. Thomas Church basement overnight shelter. Eric would like to thank everyone who helped him attain this award and also McAfee Hardware and Valley Paint & Supply for donating materials for the church project.
