Bulk waste clean-up day is Oct. 17
VERNON -- The Vernon Clean Communities program will hold a bulk waste clean-up day on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the DPW Complex located on Riggs Way in Vernon from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items that will be accepted are: tires, furniture, mattresses, and carpets, appliances (stoves, washers/dryers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and televisions.) Residents are allowed four tires per household which must be removed from rims. Truck tires and construction debris will be not be accepted. This event is being held for Vernon Township residents only. The cost is $20 per residential vehicle load, as per ordinance 09-11. Proper identification (driver’s license, tax bill, utility bill, etc.) is required at time of ticket purchase. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the DPW building between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Brush will also be accepted free of charge, but must be separated from bulky waste items.
