Mountain Creek began the 2020 ski season with a record setting early start on Saturday, Nov. 16 with an expectation of a long ski season. Mother Nature had a different plan providing one of warmest winters and a February and March that saw no significant snow fall.

This did not deter the skiers and snowboarders who make Mountain Creek their home ski resort. In the face of the conclusion of an unusual winter friends gathered on Saturday March 14 to enjoy their last weekend to ski and ride with the Resort scheduled to close on Sunday March 15.

Skiing and riding have two attractions, the joy associated with gliding down the slopes on skies or on a snowboard and getting together at the end of a day on the slopes to socialize and enjoy an après ski party. This is true at Mountain Creek where the die hard skiers and riders gather together at an end of season party in the South Lodge parking lot traditionally hosted by Ryan Mastrianni, who in the summer months is the Executive Chef at the Newton Country Club.

Ryan is not only the record holder for the snowboarder with the most days on snow with this years total of 96 again being tops for snowboarders. While attendees at the traditional end of ski season party bring their favorite dishes and adult beverages, Ryan’s hamburgers and hot dogs make the event even that more memorable.

This year’s gathering included local riders and skiers who hated to see the ski season end, but were happy to celebrate another fun ski season at Mountain Creek and toast the Mountain Creek management, snow makers, groomers, food & beverage personnel and other members the staff for providing the support made it possible to enjoy another wonderful season on the slopes at Mountain Creek.

While skiers and riders hate to see another ski season come to an end, they have a new opportunity to enjoy their favorite sport with the opening of the BigSnow indoor ski area run by the Mountain Creek owners that opened on Dec. 5, 2019.

The indoor ski area provides an ideal skiing/riding experience with controlled temperatures, snow making and grooming that can be enjoyed all year. To learn more about BigSnow visit their website at https://www.bigsnowamericandream.com/.
