    February 9 Angel Gonzalez, age 22, of Montague, was sentenced to two years probation, $1,205 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on Dec. 11, 2006 to the third degree crime of possession of cocaine. He admitted to possessing a small bag of cocaine that was discovered during a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer Brian Liassloch on Oct. 14, 2006. Vincent Francis, age 40, of Allendale, was sentenced to two years probation, $1,205 in fines and a six-month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on Nov. 27, 2006 to the third degree crime of possession of methamphetamine. He admitted to possessing a trace amount of methamphetamine in Franklin on June 30, 2005. February 13 Leighton Brown, age 28, of Newton, pled guilty to third degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and third degree resisting arrest. He is scheduled for sentencing on April 13. He was found to be in possession of 11 bags of heroin and six bags of cocaine when detectives from the Sussex County Narcotics Task Force, officers from the Newton Police Department and Sussex County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at the home of his mother on Mill Street on Nov. 14, 2006. He also admitted to resisting the arrest by the police officers through the use of force. February 16 Keith Petrowski, age 37 of Butler, was sentenced to three years probation, 364 days jail, 30 days community service, fines and penalties totaling $3,022, restitution of $2,500, and 4 ½ years additional suspension of driving privileges. He pled guilty on Jan. 3 to Assault by Auto, a third degree crime and Driving While Suspended With Resulting Serious Bodily Injury, a crime of the fourth degree. Petrowski also pled guilty to motor vehicle charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended and Having No Insurance. On Aug. 20, 2006, on Route 23 in Hardyston Township, Petrowski drove his vehicle, while intoxicated, and went into the opposite lane of travel and collided with an oncoming vehicle. Roy Aldous, the driver of the second vehicle, was seriously injured. William Carwille, age 23, of Franklin, was sentenced to two years probation. 45 days S.L.A.P., a six month loss of driver’s license and $705 in fines. He pled guilty on Jan. 2 to the disorderly person’s offense of being under the influence of a controlled, dangerous substance. He admitted to consuming two bags of heroin on a return trip from Newark before he was stopped by members of the Sussex County Narcotics Task Force in Franklin on Oct. 4, 2006. William Akamura, age 20, of Highland Lakes, was sentenced to three years in state prison, a six month loss of driver’s license and $2,473 in fines. He pled guilty on Nov.27, 2006 to third degree possession of cocaine, the disorderly persons offense of false imprisonment, fourth degree possession of a weapon, third degree burglary, third degree theft, the disorderly persons offense of possession of marijuana and a motor vehicle ticket for unsafe tires. He admitted to possessing less than a half gram of cocaine in Vernon on Oct. 9, 2005. He admitted that on Sept.5, 2005, in Vernon, he kept Kristin Wargacki against her will in his bedroom and that he possessed a glove with metal studs. He also admitted that he agreed with other individuals to burglarize a home in Vernon on May 17, 2006 in order to steal drugs from the home. He also admitted that on July 1, 2006, he possessed a small amount of cocaine, Thomas Ziniewicz, age 34, of Newton, was sentenced to serve 215 days in the Sussex County Jail, to pay $155 in monetary penalties and to submit to DNA testing. He pled guilty on Dec. 19, 2006, to one count of the fourth degree charge for a Megan’s Law violation for failure to notify law enforcement that he had moved to a new address. Under the provisions of Megan’s Law, Ziniewicz was required to notify the local police that he was moving to a new address ten days prior to his actual move. Ziniewicz admitted to the court that on or about May 26, 2006, he had moved to a new address in the Town of Newton and had not notified the Newton Police Department of his new address. At the time of the offense, Ziniewicz was serving a term of probation that was imposed by the Court on Feb. 10, 2006 for a similar violation. Ziniewicz continues to be monitored by the Sex Offender Monitoring Pilot Program through the State Parole Board. This program provides for satellite-based monitoring of certain sex offenders. Amelia Demarest, age 31, of Sussex, was sentenced to two years probation, a substance abuse evaluation and treatment, $1,962 in fines and a seven month loss of driver’s license. She pled guilty on Dec. 18, 2006, to the third degree crime of possession of cocaine and to motor vehicle tickets for operating while intoxicated and with an expired registration. She admitted to possessing a small amount of cocaine following a motor vehicle stop by Sussex County Sheriff Department Sgt. John Gray in Sussex Borough on Sept. 27, 2006, and that her motor vehicle registration had expired and that she was driving under the influence of marijuana. Angel A. Zepeda, age 37, of Morristown, was sentenced to three years probation. He must serve 21 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility and was given credit for 21 days served. He must perform 200 hours of community service, pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on Dec. 18, 2006 to tampering with public records, a third degree crime. On Nov. 9, 2006, he presented a fraudulent application for a driver’s license to the Newton Motor Vehicle Commission Office. Phyllis Vigliotti, age 37, of Newton, was sentenced to one year probation and must serve 20 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. She must submit to a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations made. She must pay total fines and penalties of $280 and submit a DNA sample at her expense. She pled guilty on Dec. 18, 2006 to forgery, a third degree crime and to falsifying records, a fourth degree crime. On March 12, 2006, she filled out and cashed a check belonging to Edward Stoll without his knowledge or permission. On Aug. 5, 2006, she provided Newton Municipal Court with a letter written by her but stating it was from Newton Memorial Hospital to inform the court that Edward Stoll had passed away, knowing that there was a pending complaint in the Municipal Court against him and knowing he had not passed away. February 20 William Muller, age 50, formerly of Sussex, entered a guilty plea to an accusation charging him with third degree aggravated assault. Muller admitted to the court that on or about Jan.13, he had assaulted an adult female during a domestic dispute. The victim received significant bodily iuries as a result of the assault. The case was investigated by Trooper Bambara of the New Jersey State Police. Muller is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Critchley on April 13. Jeffrey Haber, age 28, formerly of Newton and Montague, was sentenced to probation for a period of one year. As a condition of Haber’s probation, he is to serve 90 days in the Keough-Dwyer Correctional Facility. Haber was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and he was ordered to pay $155 in monetary penalties. In a separate Family Court matter, Haber was sentenced to probation for a period of one year. As a condition of Haber’s Family Court probation, he is to serve 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $125 in monetary penalties. Both sentences are to run concurrent to each other but consecutive to the sentences that Haber is currently serving in the Sussex County Jail on other unrelated matters. He pled guilty on Dec. 18, 2006, to criminal trespass, a fourth degree crime, and contempt of court, a disorderly persons offense, for violating the terms of a Temporary Restraining Order entered under the “Prevention of Domestic Violence Act.” Haber admitted to the court that on or about June l9, 2006, in the Town of Newton, he had entered the residence of an adult female without her permission. In addition, Haber admitted that on or about Sept. 29, 2006, in the Township of Montague, he had violated the terms of a Temporary Restraining Order entered under the “Prevention of Domestic Violence Act” by having telephone contact with the victim contrary to court order.
