Hackettstown — Centenary College will offer a new creative writing concentration and minor starting this fall. Creative Writing offers students opportunities to develop self-expression and self-esteem, while improving writing skills, according to the college. The minor will allow non-English majors to participate in creative writing courses and benefit from an added credential on their transcripts. Creative Writing students would focus on either poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction. Faculty who will teach these courses would include an award-winning poet and journal publisher, as well as two award-winning authors. Courses will be offered both onsite and online. English literature majors may pursue a concentration in creative writing, while those who are not English Literature majors would minor in creative writing. Non-matriculated students will be able to participate in the courses at a reduced rate of $490 per course for “Poetry Writing” and $980 for the “Craft of Prose Writing.”
