Byram — Bicyclist Russ Tyndall of Stanhope was tired by the time he crossed the finish line at the ShopRite of Byram recently. The nearly 90-mile bicycle journey to benefit the ShopRite Partners in Caring program took him to each of the seven ShopRite stores owned and operated by Ronetco Supermarkets. He traversed county lines, traveled uphill and down on country roads, county roads and state highways, but met his goal of completing the “Ronetco ShopRite Loop” and gathered to greet him was a crowd of well-wishers at the Byram ShopRite when he pedaled through the finish line at 2:35 p.m., his estimated time of arrival. Business associates from General Mills, friends, relatives, customers and multitude of ShopRite associates representing all the stores, convened to applaud his accomplishment. Spurred by the enthusiasm of Jason Ziegler, owner of Sussex Bike & Sport, Tyndall wanted to help increase awareness and raise desperately needed funds to fight hunger in the communities served by ShopRite stores.
