Dance students receive accolades

VERNON — Two students from Simply Dance in Vernon have been recognized for their dance talents. Tamara McCloskey has been accepted for admission into the Academies of Morris County in Denville. After a selection process that included letters of recommendation, a review of her current grades, an admissions examination and a dance audition and interview, Tamara demonstrated the skills required to become one of the 180 applicants accepted into The Academy for Visual and Performing Arts Dance Program for September. She will take daily dance lessons including ballet, modern and jazz and will also study choreography, repertory, production, dance technology and dance history. Colleen Aquino has received a dance scholarship to Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa. She has been a student at Simply Dance for the past five years and has studied tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, acro, hip hop and musical theater at Simply Dance. She plans to major in social work and minor in dance. “We could not be any prouder of Tamara and Colleen, and all of the students at Simply Dance,” said owner Danielle Seidner.
