Dog training business expands

Hardyston At a time when many people are afraid to take risks, two dog trainers have created an alliance that moves both their businesses forward and offers new programs for local dog owners. Certified dog trainer Leslie Wiesner, owner of It’s Your Dog LLC, has opened a new facility on Route 94. A dog-friendly open house is scheduled for Aug. 15. With this expansion comes a partnership with Paws in Harmony LLC of West Milford and an array of holistic services designed to complement traditional dog training. It’s Your Dog is known for its use of reward-based training methods to enhance the relationship between dogs and their humans. It specializes in obedience, household manners and behavior modification in the form of group classes, private lessons and tele-courses. Dog sports, tricks classes and playgroups are among the new offerings on the horizon. It’s Your Dog has been a fixture in the community since 2004 when classes were offered at a local pet store. “This is our third growth spurt since then,” says Wiesner “and I’m very excited to begin this chapter.” Paws In Harmony, owned by dog trainer Laurie Sue Bakay, provides programs including animal reiki and massage to help pets become more balanced and receptive to learning. Bakay is also a certified pet CPR and first aid instructor and will be conducting workshops to teach dog owners how to help their pets in medical emergencies. Monthly guest speakers will address subjects such as nutrition, bite prevention and other topics of interest.
