HIGHLAND LAKES — Elena Nita of Highland Lakes will be honored at a statewide awards ceremony for gifted children held by The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Elena, who is a fourth-grade student at Hilltop Country Day School, recently joined other award recipients at the state ceremony, and was individually honored by Johns Hopkins for “her academic performance and promise,” said school officials. She was invited to this awards ceremony based on an exceptional performance on a rigorous, above-grade level test given to second- through eighth-grade talent search participants, officials added. Elena took the SCAT, an above-level test for younger students.. Elena is also the Dr. Arlene Jorgensen Merit Scholarship recipient at Hilltop Country Day School.
