Farmers market still open and supporting food drive
Augusta The new Sussex County Farmers Market at the Fairgrounds will continue its season through Nov. 21. Throughout this time, local farmers will also be supporting a food drive to help restock the Food Pantry run by Sussex County Social Services. All visitors to the market are asked to bring non-perishable food or home products to donate to the pantry. The farmers have set a goal to fill their donation box every week through Nov. 21. The market is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the main entrance of the Sussex County Fairgrounds on Plains Road. The market is indoors, so no matter what the weather, the market is open. Fresh products now being harvested include winter squash, potatoes, onions, garlic, pumpkins, apples and farmers will also sell locally produced meat, cheese, honey and eggs. Shoppers can also start their holiday shopping with dried flower arrangements, soaps and other products.
