Florist offers free roses

Vernon — Highland Flowers is giving away roses by the dozens on Sept. 9 to promote friendship and good will to the Sussex County and Warwick area. Good Neighbor Day began with FTD many years ago for the same reasons, but Highland Flowers owner Lori Struck says she is not affiliated with them in any way. “I do this out of my own accord (and pocketbook!)” Over the past two years, Highland Flowers have away 1,200 roses to anyone who came in to ask for them. “They are given in pre-wrapped dozens, colors and reds, the idea is that you keep one for yourself and give away the rest to 11 others — in random acts of kindness — during the day.” Visit Highland Flowers at 306 Route 94 or in Highland Lakes at 187 Breakneck Rd.
