Flying high

Butterflies soared against the sunshine at Sussex County Community College at the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice’s annual Butterfly Release Celebration on Saturday, June 6. The event is sponsored each year by the Smith-McCracken & Wood Funeral Homes. Festivities including music, crafts and the reading of names of those who the butterflies are released in memory of, took place before the release. Following the ceremonies, the crowd left the Lakeland Bank Pavilion and released the butterflies on the adjacent grounds. Some participants transferred butterflies to flowers in the college’s nearby garden.
