Oct. 29 At approximately 6 p.m., Patrolman Nevin J. Mattessich stopped a vehicle for several violations. Further investigation led to the arrest of 21-year-old William J. DeVore for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. DeVore was processed and released after being issued motor vehicle summons for speeding, careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was also issued criminal complaints for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Nov. 6 At approximately 9:10 p.m., Franklin Police acted on a tip that a wanted individual was at the Koz’s Corner bar. Investigation resulted in the arrest of James E. Beck of Sussex for a violation of parole, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, distribution of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of Franklin Elementary School and resisting arrest. Beck was then lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $65,000 bail with no 10-percent option. Officer Ryan Churchwell, Officer Jeffrey Korger and Detective Leo Kinney investigated.
