    On May 1, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Officer Ryan Churchwell initiated a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle that was speeding on Fowler Street. The driver of the vehicle was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was subsequently issued summonses for speeding and driving while suspended. A passenger in the vehicle, 26-year-old Patrick B. Porter of Goshen, N.Y., was arrested for being in possession of hypodermic syringes. Porter also had active warrants out of Sayreville, Frankford and Montague totaling $1,530. Porter was subsequently lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $2,530 bail with no 10 percent option. Officer Ryan Churchwell was assisted by Sergeant Jeffrey Smith. On May 7, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Officer Ryan Churchwell responded to the intersection of State Highway 23 and County Route 517 for a motor vehicle accident. Further investigation led to the arrest of 48-year-old John H. Schick Jr., of Franklin for driving while intoxicated after Officer Churchwell detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and after Schick failed a series of field sobriety tests. Schick was issued summonses for DWI and careless driving and released to a friend pending a Franklin Borough Municipal Court Appearance. On May 10, approximately 7:3O p.m., Franklin Police responded to the Walmart Shopping Center for a shoplifting complaint. The actors, identified as Christopher Hartman of Hamburg and Donald Grau Jr. of Sparta, fled the scene prior to patrols’ arrival. A short time later, Franklin Police apprehended both individuals in a nearby wooded area and recovered approximately $780 in stolen electronics and clothing merchandise. Hartman was charged with shoplifting and obstruction of justice while Grau was charged with shoplifting, obstruction of justice and receiving stolen property. Both individuals were processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail each, with no 10 percent option.
