Free lessons for second-graders

VERNON — Mountain Creek is offering free “learn-to” lessons for all Vernon second- graders. The idea is to get local kids started early, where they can grow into and learn a sport that their community supports, according to officials. “Skiing and snowboarding are such great lifetime sports; many of us here have built our lives around it” said Bill Benneyan at Mountain Creek. “It’s an exhilarating and social way to enjoy winter outdoors, and is fulfilling in constantly providing new goals and learning along the way - disguised as fun. We believe that anyone who’s fortunate enough to live near a snow resort like here in Vernon should take advantage of it.” Notices to all Vernon second-graders are being distributed at their schools, before the Thanksgiving break. Reservations will be taken for the Dec 12 to 24 lesson dates, which include free rental equipment, starting Nov. 23. For more information or to reserve a free lesson you can contact Mountain Creek directly at 973-864-8128.
