Newton — Seniors, age 60+ who meet the financial criteria, are eligible to receive $30 worth of vouchers to spend on fresh, New Jersey grown, fruits and vegetables at participating farm stands. This is made possible through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Seniors must be Sussex County residents and have incomes that do not exceed $20,036 annually if single, or $26,955 if married. Seniors should note that the PAAD card is no longer acceptable as proof of eligibility. A 2008 income tax return, social security statement, valid Medicaid card, valid food stamp verification or bank statement are acceptable proof of income eligibility. Vouchers can be picked up at the Sussex County Division of Senior Services in Newton during regular business hours. They will be distributed at numerous sites. Eligible, home-bound seniors may receive vouchers through a proxy. For information, call 973-579-0555.
