From autos to happy hours

Patriarch switches gears to be with family Oak Ridge — John Fuchs recently moved to Oak Ridge from Franklin. He’d previously run Superior Auto Repair in Hamburg for nearly 20 years, but “due to age (I’m 51) and wear and tear on my body from turning wrenches for 30 years,” Fuchs decided to switch businesses. “I wanted to be close to my kids, Jason and Dana, so I purchased the Oak Ridge Pub & Liquors and made it a family business. It’s great to work with them on a daily basis and teach them the retail business.” The family held a grand opening for their new venture recently, and Fuchs reports that they are also “in the process of expanding the licensed area to be able to have patrons enjoy the outside area with picnic tables and horseshoe pits. Everyone enjoys being outside on nice days.” Other plans: Tuesday night “bike nights” along with drink specials. The family will be together a lot now, as Oak Ridge Pub and Liquors is open seven days a week.
