    Mobile computer inquiry leads to arrest On Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at 8:05 a.m., a 1991 Dodge Spirit being driven by Albert G. Gonda. 62, of Sussex, was stopped on Route 94 after a random mobile computer inquiry revealed that fictitious plates were on this vehicle. After a roadside investigation, Gonda was arrested after it was learned that he had provided a false name to avoid detection of several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Additionally, the vehicle was found to be unregistered and uninsured and it was impounded. Gonda was transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with hindering apprehension, fictitious plates, unregistered vehicle, unlicensed driver, driving while suspended, failure to exhibit documents, uninsured motor vehicle, using plates of another vehicle and failure to report address change. He was turned over to the Hardyston Police on an outstanding warrant from their court, for lodging in the Sussex County Jail. Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated the incident. DWI arrest follows crash on Route 23 On Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at 9:04 p.m., a 2008 Ford being operated by Janice M. Florio, 43, of Sussex, was stopped in traffic on Route 23 by Gingerbread Castle Road, when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1996 Toyota Camry being operated by John P. Wehniuller, 23. of Vernon. Investigation at the scene led to Wehmuller’s arrest for DWI, and the impoundment of his vehicle under the provisions of John’s Law. He was transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to inspect. He was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court on Jan. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Sgt. Erik Aronson is investigating the incident, and was assisted at the scene by Patrolman Gregory Cugliari of the Franklin Police Department. Hamburg EMS also responded to the scene to treat Florio, however, she refused medical transportation from the scene. Crash in rear of police station leads to arrest On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at 3 a.m., Patrolman David McNulty was in the parking lot of Hamburg Police Headquarters, when he observed a vehicle had backed down an embankment directly behind the police station and alongside the Hamburg EMS building. Investigation revealed that Michael A. Maloney, 32, of Hamburg, had backed the vehicle from a driveway of a residence next door to the police station and over the embankment. In addition, he was also arrested at the scene for driving while intoxicated. He was escorted to the police station, where he was charged with DWI, driving while suspended, careless driving and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court on Jan. 6.
