Aug. 29 Overdose call leads to drug charges At 7:48 p.m., Hamburg Police responded to an overdose call at a borough residence. As a result of the investigation, Juan B. Rivera, 56, of Hamburg, has been charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. These charges require his appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court on Sept. 17. Sgt. Thomas Spinner investigated the incident. Aug 31 Mobile computer inquiry leads to warrant arrest At 10:14 p.m., a 2002 Dodge pickup that was being operated by Jason D. Hazekamp, 21, of Sussex, was stopped on Route 23 after a mobile computer inquiry revealed that he was wanted by the Vernon Municipal Court for an outstanding traffic warrant. Hazekamp was arrested and transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was released from custody after posting $350 bail. Patrolman David McNulty investigated the incident. Sept. 3 Mobile computer inquiry leads to warrant arrest At 11:04 p.m., a 1994 Honda being operated by Shaunamar C. Orlando, 18, of Wantage, was stopped on Route 23 after a mobile computer inquiry revealed that she had an outstanding warrant from the Paterson Court. After a brief roadside investigation, she was arrested on the traffic warrant and was later released from custody on $400 bail. She was also issued a summons for violation of her provisional drivers license. Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated the incident, while on duty for the Over the Limit Under Arrest 2009 Statewide Crackdown. Sept. 4 Motor vehicle stop leads to DWl arrest At 1:47 a.m., a 2003 Honda being operated by Kevin P. McDermott, 46, of Hicksville, N.Y., was stopped on Quarry Road after being observed making a prohibited right on red. After a brief roadside investigation, McDermott was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and his vehicle was impounded. He was charged with right on red prohibited, driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, having an expired license and failure to exhibit documents. McDermott is scheduled to appear in the Hamburg Municipal Court on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. Sgt.
