    Domestic violence arrest made after police response to ambulance call On Saturday, Aug. 15 at 5:40 a.m.,, Hamburg Police were dispatched to a borough residence for an ambulance request. Upon arrival, it was leaned that the victim sustained minor injuries from a domestic dispute that had occurred during the course of the evening. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Benjamin H. Clark, 21, of Hamburg, for assault under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act. He was transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, Clark was released on his own recognizance pending a Sept. 1 appearance in Hamburg Municipal Court. Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated the incident. Motor vehicle accident results in DWI arrest On Sunday, Aug. 23 at 1:13 a.m., a 2000 Ford Focus being operated by Pedro Castillo-Delacruz, 26, of Sussex, ran off the roadway on Route 23 North, just before Weatherhill Road. The vehicle struck a utility pole and fire hydrant and came to rest against a fence. Delacruz was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital by Hamburg EMS for minor injuries and was subsequently treated and released. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, careless’ driving, driving while suspended, being an unlicensed driver, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court on Sept. 1. Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated the incident and was assisted by Officer Roy Souther. Mobile computer inquiry leads to arrest for warrant and hindering apprehension On Friday, Aug. 14 at 5:18 p.m., a 1996 Jeep being operated by Ronald N. Smith, 26, of Ogdensburg, was stopped on Route 23 after a mobile computer inquiry revealed that the vehicle registration was expired, that Smith’s license was suspended and that there was a warrant for his arrest. After a brief roadside investigation, Smith was arrested on the warrant, and for providing false information regarding his identity. He was transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with hindering apprehension, driving while suspended, expired registration, no liability insurance and failure to wear a seat belt. Smith is scheduled to appear in Hamburg Municipal Court on Sept. 17 and was turned over to the Jefferson Police Department on the $850 traffic warrant from their Court.
