December 27 After being involved in a head-on collision at 12:26 a.m., Christopher Garrett, 22, of Hamburg was arrested for DWI, Assault by Auto, Possession of CDS and numerous motor vehicle violations. Garrett, operating a Ford Ranger pickup truck, crossed the center line on Route 23 near the intersection of Linwood Avenue in Hamburg and struck a GMC Jimmy, operated by Toni Veltre, 18, also of Hamburg. Garrett was airlifted by North Star to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released for facial injuries. Veltre was transported to Newton Memorial Hospital were she was treated for a fractured right hand. Garrett was scheduled to appear in Hamburg Municipal Court on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Assisting at the scene were the Hamburg Fire/EMS and the Hardyston Township Police Dept, Fire Department and EMS.
