    Abandoned backpack results in discovery of marijuana On Friday, Oct. 30, Hamburg Police were dispatched to a report that a male had abandoned a backpack near the Falcon Ridge Condominium Complex and left the area on foot. Upon checking the bag for identification, officers instead discovered it contained marijuana and a smoking pipe. While the officers were present, the owner of the backpack, a 15-year-old Hamburg male, returned to the scene and was placed under arrest. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. The juvenile was released to his mother and will appear in Family Court in Newton. Sgt. Thomas Spinner and Patrolman David McNulty investigated the incident. Motor vehicle crash leads to DWI and drug arrest On Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1:15 p.m., Hamburg Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Quarry Road at the intersection of Route 23. Investigation revealed that a vehicle being driven by Stefanie A. Eruhow, 23, of Glenwood, struck the rear of another vehicle being driven by Christa K. Piper, 46, of Hamburg. After a roadside investigation, Eruhow was arrested for drug impaired DWI and her vehicle was impounded under the provisions of John’s Law. Subsequent to her arrest, Eruhow was found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Eruhow has been charged with drug impaired DWI, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to produce a driver’s license, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to inspect, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering apprehension and obstruction of governmental function. She was released from custody pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court. Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated the incident and was assisted by Sgt Erik Aronson and Hardyston Patrolman Karl Ludwig. Two arrested after domestic dispute On Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6:36 p.m., Hamburg Police were dispatched to a reported domestic violence incident. After arrival, David S. Cooper, 44, of Hamburg, was arrested for criminal mischief, after it was determined that he kicked in a door inside of a residence, causing damage to the door. Subsequent investigation revealed that Cooper was bitten on the wrist by Joanne Falconer, 48, also of Hamburg, during the dispute. Falconer was arrested for simple assault. Cooper was charged with criminal mischief and Falconer was charged with simple assault. Both were released on their own recognizance, pending appearances in the Hamburg Municipal Court. Sgt.
