History at the shore

On a recent trip to Sandy Hook, Franklin Troop 90 and their leaders had a revealing tour of the Coast Guard base there. The tour gave the Scouts a chance to consider some new career choices. They were thrilled to sit inside the Coast Guard’s active patrol boats and to tour the old army base and lighthouse, learning more about the history of Sandy Hook. The boys spent the evening searching the tidal pools of the bay and hiking along the beach. The Franklin Scouts meet every Monday at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center in Franklin.
