Home sales talks offer information

Vernon Given the current economy, with homes going into short sale or foreclosure, Loretta Chiapperino of Century 21 Gross & Jansen Realtors Vernon office thought it was time to get information out to the public on home sales. During the month of January she organized several homeowner/homebuyer seminars and held them at Penny’s Market located in the Someplace Special Mall. In this venue, she and other professionals met with residents in and around Vernon. The open forum allowed homeowners and future buyers an opportunity to speak with professionals who could assist them through these tough times. “Getting information out to the public is the most important part of being a Realtor,“ Loretta said. “A good Realtor will inform the buyer and seller of rules, regulations, guidelines and market values and more so the seller and buyer can make a wise decision in the selling or buying process.“ Among the other speakers at the event were Ed McWhartor of Prospect Mortgage, who presented a Web site called The Home Buyer’s Scouting Report that allows people to search for homes not only for sale but ones that have already sold as a way to follow the housing market. Lawyer Nicholas Nicossia, of the firm Ciglione and Nicossia in Vernon offered insight into the closing process. Sam Saba of Saba Tax in Sparta explained the buyer’s tax credit; home inspector Jeff Lutz of Newton, the Democracy Title company and Mitchell Insurance Company were also represented.
