In praise of the flag

First-graders at Walnut Ridge School were visited by a group of soldiers who were on a mission to teach about the American flag as a symbol of freedom. They held a flag ceremony that was attended by 15 first-grade classes, then spoke with the children about the significance of the flag’s colors: Red is for courage, blue for justice, white for purity.
