Investigation continues into fatal crash

    HAMBURG-The investigation continues into a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred at 9:20 a.m. on Jan. 7 on State Highway 94 in Hamburg Borough at mile marker 35.9 near The Lobster Place restaurant. Pronounced dead at the scene was Eric Rohloff, 20, of 5 Black Oak Trail in Vernon Township. Rohloffs vehicle, a 1989 Jeep Cherokee, which was traveling northbound, collided with a 2004 Dodge Dakota pick-up truck, traveling southbound, being operated by Michael Gubner, 62, of Vernon. Gubner and his passenger, his wife, Nancy Gubner, 63, were both transported to St. Clare's Hospital in Sussex Borough by the Hamburg Fire Department First Aid Squad, where they were treated for minor injuries. The Hamburg Borough Police Department is conducting the investigation, assisted by the Sussex County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART), and detectives from the County Prosecutor's Office. Also responding to the scene were the Hardyston Police Department, Hamburg Fire Department, Hamburg Fire EMS, paramedics from St. Clare's Hospital, and representatives of the Sussex County Medical Examiner's Office. Traffic was detoured for several hours around the crash scene by members of the Department of Transportation Traffic Diversion Unit.
