Volunteers sought for health initiatives
Frankford â” The Sussex County Division of Senior Services is currently seeking volunteer leaders for some of its Project Healthy Living initiatives. An information session for interested parties will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Sussex County Main Library, located at 125 Morris Turnpike, in Frankford Township. Opportunities include: Volunteer coach for âA Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls,â a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls Volunteer leader for âHealthy Bones,â an osteoporosis prevention exercise and education program Peer leader for âTake Control of Your Health,â an empowering program that helps participants manage the issues related to chronic conditions. The information session will include an overview of each program and a review of the leadership criteria, reporting requirements and time commitment for each program. There are also volunteer opportunities for those who are interested in coordination of the programs rather than the hands-on involvement. Duties include scheduling sessions, coordinating leader assignments, assembling training materials, data collection and reporting.
