Junior fire academy offered to students

    Frankford — A Junior Fire Academy will be held at the Public Safety Training Academy in Frankford Township, July 13 to 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for students in grades 9-12. The academy is sponsored by The Sussex County Fire Academy, in conjunction with Sussex County Community College. The Junior Fire Academy is designed to educate young adults about fire safety and fire fighting as well as to illustrate possible career paths and volunteer opportunities in fire fighting. Through guest presentations and field trips, the students will also learn about the New Jersey Forest Service, The State and County Fire Marshal’s offices, and the County HAZMAT Team. Students should bring a lunch each day and a barbecue will provided on Friday, July 17. The registration fee is $25.
