Vernon-This month Lakeland Pools & Spas is celebrating 40 years as a family owned and operated business. Opened in 1964 when Edie and Howard Ramsberger opened Lakeland Pools, the business sold vinyl liner in-ground pools until 1983, when the owners decided to concentrate on the service and retail part of the business. They also added spas to their product line. In 1988 when Howard passed away, Edie sold the business to her three nieces, Debbie Moran, Cindy Kannon and Tracey Shauger, who continue to run the business as a retail store for hot tubs, pool and spa chemicals and accessories. In addition, they run a water testing service. "We have moved along with the technology, but we continue to deal with our customers on a very personal level," said Debbie Moran, co-owner. "In some cases we would have actually built their pool and they are still coming to us for their chemicals," she added. Lakeland has a computerized water analysis system and specializes in pool and spa water treatment. "We attend trade shows and seminars to keep up with the latest water technology," added Moran. On July 30-31, Lakeland Pools & Spas will be holding a 40th Anniversary celebration at their premises at 257 Rt. 94 in Vernon. The party will include music, spin art, hot dogs, soda, cotton candy, and sno cones among other attractions. For more information, call 973-827-9000 or 973-764-9000.
