Legal education seminars cover divorce and debt
Newton Crosby Legal Seminars will offer public legal education seminars at Sussex County Community College, beginning Monday, Feb. 1. Seminars will cover the areas of family law, employment law, debt collections, foreclosure and bankruptcy and will be presented by New Jersey attorney Jacqueline E. Crosby, Esq. The first series is a four part seminar for individuals going through divorce or having family problems. Seminar attendees will learn the necessary legal facts about filing for divorce, including legal pleadings, divorce agreements, property distribution, alimony, mediation, child support and custody, DYFS proceedings, restraining orders, how to complete the family law Case Information Statement and other court forms, how to navigate the court system, how to hire competent legal counsel, and where to find additional legal or social service resources. The cost of this seminar series is $100 and classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., Feb. 1,3,8 and 10. The Debt Solutions Seminar Series will educate the public about debtor/creditor law in the areas of foreclosure, debt collections, and bankruptcy. Participants will learn the relevant federal and state statutes, government agencies, as well as legal forms and pleadings. Seminar attendees will also learn how to navigate the court system, hire competent legal counsel, and where to find additional legal or social service resources. The cost of this seminar series is $50 and classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m., Feb. 23 and 25. Legal resource packets are included in the cost.
