Letters from home

Third-graders from Franklin Borough School have been using their free-write time to write letters to a local serviceman who are serving in Iraq. Sgt. Christopher Davis, who had once attended Franklin Borough School, is now in the Army. Under the guidance of Diane Veldran, Alison Hendershot, Karen Borek and Jackie VanHassel, students are applying their letter-writing skills to inform Sgt. Davis of the ongoing events of his hometown. In addition to providing the students a purpose for writing, the teachers felt this experience would also help boost the spirits of a local member of our troops.
