AARP plans smart-driver course

    The Vernon Township Dept. of Community Affairs will offer the AARP Smart Driver Course on Thursday, April 16, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales church, located on County Highway 517.

    The six-hour course will offer participants a deduction on their insurance premiums for three years without a test. Participants will learn from state-specific information throughout the course in a way that is easy to access and understand. The course will be presented by a qualified and trained instructor from AARP, which is the nation's largest program for drivers age 50 and older.

    The cost for the program will be $15 per person for AARP members and $20 for non-members.

    Space is limited and prepaid registration is required. Checks must be made payhable to the AARP and sent to: Vernon Township Recreation, 21 Church St., Vernon, NJ 07462. Registrations must be received by Tuesday, April 7.
