After hearing feedback from Vernon Township residents, Mayor Howard Burrell opened Maple Grange Park on Wednesday.

"I have opened Maple Grange Park for non-group recreation such as walking, running and individual walking of animals, all to be done while practicing the recommended social distancing of staying at least six feet away from one another," Burrell said in a statement.

All sports and group activities in the parks remain canceled until further notice is given.

However, Burrell said if township officials find opening the park results in group gatherings, it will be closed.
