Cherry Ridge Range hosts family day

Even with the threat of thundershowers, last Saturday Cherry Ridge Range hosted some 295 visitors for a free day at the range.

Although thunder and lightning did not arrive, the last one and a half hours included several periods of rain.

This recurring annual event gives family members the opportunity to experience the shooting sports and see exactly what the Canistear Road facility has to offer. In addition to a comfortable and spacious clubhouse, there are six different outdoor ranges on site. The day’s offerings included the chance for folks to try their hand at a variety of shotguns, rifles and handguns, while under the supervision of nationally certified instructors. Archery also was available for the first time for those hoping to try it out.

The Vernon range is owned and maintained by the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs. For additional information, visit their Web site at www.anjrpc.org.
