Office Sought: Mayor of Vernon Township

Age: 52

Political History: Republican County Committee, former Vernon Republican Municipal Chairman, community activist

Occupation: 30-year law enforcement officer/Retired Sussex County Sheriff’s officer/Current School Security officer (Wantage/Newton)

Education: Graduated in 1985 from Vernon Twp. High School, Graduate of the Morris County Police Academy.

Family: My parents, Daniel and Santa Storey, Sr., my sister Deb and I have been residents of Vernon Township for 48 years

Top three issues: 1. Lower Taxes: The Gov. Phil Murphy Democrats cut education funding and caused property taxes to increase by 10 percent in Vernon. I’ll work with our legislators to get more equitable funding. I want to make Vernon a place where people will want to do business. New Businesses equal new ratables which, in turn will facilitate tax relief. 2. Infrastructure: We must find efficiencies while maintaining a high level of police, road and emergency services. As mayor, I’ll go to the people on a listening tour, door-to-door, to find out what they feel they need in terms of infrastructure and services. I want to know how they prioritize things. Then I’ll take my findings back to the Township Council and ask that they act on them. 3. Government Efficiency: We should set efficiency and savings targets. I’ll set-up a taxpayers’ panel to review government contracts. I’ll instruct local regulatory services to work with businesses and property owners – not against them.
