The New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection on Thursday sent Mike Furrey, president and owner of Agra Environmental and Laboratory Service a message asking for the Material Safety Data Sheet for the orthophosphate chemical the district plans to use to address lead in its pipes.

"I saw it as positive that they're asking for information," Vernon Township School District Business Administrator Steve Kepnes said at Thursday's school board meeting. "The applications is complete. Now they're doing their due diligence."

Kepnes said the plumbing is complete and is just waiting on the permit to treat the system.

"It's all ready to be plugged in," Kepnes said. "In one night, we can get this thing going."
