Dog park adds space for smaller dogs

VERNON — Just 30 months since the park’s May 5, 2013 grand opening, the Vernon Dog Park had another opening last Thursday with the addition of its new Small Dog Park.

At the start of the presentation, Barbara Green, the president of DOGS of Vernon introduced Janet Peet of Florida, N.Y.-based Canine Clipper, all-breed grooming salon. Canine Clipper donated the new Small Dog Park addition to the Vernon Dog Park.

Peet, a Highland Lakes resident who owns both small and larger dogs, saw the need for a place where smaller dogs, and older, but less powerful dogs, could play without there being a concern for interactions with younger but much larger and powerful animals.
