Heaven Hill Farm egg hunt draws hundreds

The sun peeked in and out over the acres of Heaven Hill Farm on Route 94, as crowds of Easter egg hunters amassed at noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m. on Easter Saturday April 15.
The annual free egg hunt attracted hundreds from the local Vernon area, down below counties as well as the tristate area.
As scarecrow bunnies stood guard, pastel eggs dotted the three age differential runways (two years and under, three to age six and seven and up). Excited parents and children began lining up 30 to 40 minutes before the hunt, jockeying for position behind a yellow rope that forbade entrance until the appropriate hunt time. Hunters passed the time by practicing the collection of eggs, sprinting, understanding the concept of the hunt and blowing bubbles into the breezy hunt area meadow. At hunt time, the crowd exploded into the meadow, commandeering visible and hidden eggs into baskets, bags and containers of every type. One young hunter was spotted placing eggs into her homemade Easter bonnet. Heaven Hill Farm also sponsored a best constructed homemade bonnet contest at the farm at 12:30 p.m.
After the hunts, visitors could partake of the carnival and pony rides and enjoy treats like popcorn and ice cream.
What better on an April spring afternoon then green grass, fresh country air, Easter eggs and chocolate.
