The High Point Regional High School (HPRHS) Board of Education approved spending nearly $130,000 on a handicapped-accessible school bus.

The school will spend $128,607.16 for the purchase of a 2023 International School Bus, Model PB105, with wheelchair access through the Education Services Commission of New Jersey.

The bus will be paid out of Fund 50, which HPRHS Superintendent Scott Ripley said is comprised of a 5 percent service fee paid to High Point by multiple districts around the county.

“It was not part of our tax levy and is not part of the general fund,” Ripley said. “We have a transportation coordinator and a robust system where we essentially function, to some degree, as a hub for the county.”
