Highland Lakes hosts fishing derby

VERNON — The weather on Saturday was once again perfect for the children of Highland Lakes to compete in the Highland Lakes Kids’ Fishing Derby.
The blue of the sky above was reflected in the water Lake Four located on Cherry Ridge Road off Canistear Road in Highland Lakes.
Most of the fish caught by the kids were bass and sunfish. Kaylee Free, 6, won for the most fish caught and Gabriella Cefaloni, 7, tied for the largest bass.
